I just had to share a new finish! It is actually my own!
I am always working on finishes for others but finally found a few minutes for myself

I just wanted to update the changes that have occurred at the Brickhouse Shoppes recently.
Just a reminder the Finishing Deadlines for the Holidays are as follows:
 Anything brought in by October 31st will be available by November 30th.
 Pieces brought in after Thanksgiving, we will do our best to have before Christmas bu no guarantees!

Now onto the changes.
We are happy to announce that we are now able to offer cross stitch supplies.

Just wanted to let everyone know I am  still doing finishing for your needlework masterpieces.
Here are some different  finishes

 Holiday finishing is always fun. Pillows, ornaments - so many ways to show off your creative

stitching.  Even the small fully lined stockings are unique and can fill in small spaces or share a goodie or two.

Teaching the younger generation to stitch can be so rewarding for them as well as you..
We will hold classes upon request.

My granddaughters at the time were 10 and 13.

Lorna did the cross stitching and then learned to how to make a pillow.  

Finishing Touches and Holiday Deadline

  

Hi Everyone! My how time flies. It's been a year already!                                            

        This years finishing deadlines are:
            Guaranteed before Christmas if brought in by Nov. 15th
            Anything brought in after that we will do our best.

One of my new finishes - the RIP Coffin Etui - a cute place to store scissors and needles while doing your fall stitching.

I designed the Coffin Etui using a box found at the craft store and part of a design from JCS 2014 Halloween Issue, Ghosts by Maria Warmke of the Stitcherhood.  It is fully lined inside with a removable witch hat needle minder (a Creative Finisher design) that is attached to the lid with a magnet so it can be removed and used while your stitching.
The set also includes a needle book and scissor fob. The needle book says "When stitching time comes to and end, Rest in piece til we stitch again." I had a lot of fun creating this project - right down to the saying on the needle book!

With the Holidays just around the corner remember to get your pieces in for finishing by November 15th. There is nothing more enjoyable and gratifying than giving or receiving a handmade gift.

Here are a few finishing projects from this past year

If you have a needlework piece that needs repair, give me a call. I will try to
repair it. Below is a stocking that needed repaired. A dog wanted what was
inside.

  

   

I pulled some threads fro the seam allowance and used then to weave the hole closed.
It took some time and patience. The owner said she will be a little more careful from now on and was thrilled with the finish.

Christmas Deadlines for this year will be as follows:
Any finishing brought in by Nov. 1, 2013 will be guaranteed finished by November 28, 2013
Any Finishing brought in by Thanksgiving you will have before Christmas.
Any finishing brought in after Thanksgiving we will do our best to have for Christmas - no guarantees

So bring in your finishing projects as soon as possible to have for the Christmas Holiday.

In this section we have things made by local crafters all year long.

I just wanted to give you an update on our finishing services. Yes we are still finishing needlework pieces.
We have expanded further into needlepoint finishing and have added alterations to our list of finishes.
This year we will be adding doll clothes for 15" and 18"dolls. The clothes will fit the American Girl Dolls!
We will be able to do custom orders or if you are local visit our Design Studio to see what we have in stock

In addition to the doll clothes there will other handmade items available.

Learning Something New

There is always time to learn something new. During the fall last year I learned how to smock.

First you must pleat the fabric then stitch your design on it and finally finish it into something.

I had joined an ornament swap with Vetty Creations in Australia. I needed an ornament for the exchange. So I took a completed piece of smocking and made it into a snowman.

There's my ornament.

Isn't he cute with the top hat, nose made out of memory thread and hand crocheted scarf?

Yvette Stanton, the ornament recipient thought so.

Yvette is a designer in Australia and author of some great reference books. The Left Handed and Right Handed Embroiderer's Companion - a step by step stitch dictionary are great.

During the past year I designed and finished the Stitch Your Heart Out Designer's Encyclopedia.

A compilation of 12 Cross Stitch Designs from 12 different Cross Stitch Designers finished as a book.

Each design is attached to the page with a whip stitch and finished by hand or machine sewing.

A Designers Card is attached to each page so you will always know the Design name and Designer.

A portion of the sales from each chart was donated to the Carol for Heart Foundation

The designs are available through your Local Needlework Shop and anyone completing all 12 designs will receive the complimentary Cover Design and Finishing Instructions.

Stitcher's Swap Meet

Hi Everyone !

We have a big event coming in September. Come and spend the afternoon with us!

A Stitcher's Swap Meet
Noon until 4-5 PM
Sunday Sept. 12,2010

Bring a chair, your needlework, anything from your stash you no longer want and a picnic lunch
for an afternoon of swapping with fellow needleworkers - no matter what their needlework style. That's right it could be any type of needlework.! Knitting, crocheting,cross stitch, etc.
This event will be held outside so if it rains please check with us because there will be a rain date.

Our Christmas Finishing Deadlines will be as follows:
Any projects brought in by November 1st. will be guaranteed for Christmas.
Any projects brought after the 1st. of November we will do our best to complete for the holidays
After Thanksgiving we cannot guarantee you will have them for the holiday
